First confirmed casualties from Quiksilver's reorganization are in. Long Beach's own Balaram Stack was let go from his Quiksilver sponsorship. The VSTR brand line will be discontinued, and Dayne Reynolds' Summer Teeth brand will be handed back to him. No cuts have been announced for Quiksilver's Europe team yet, nor any news about the sub-brands based there such as Moskova. A memo released by Quiksilver states that they will keep 130 surfers, and will continue to re-focus each brand where it is strongest.

Following on the heels of Nike and Burton cutting team riders and brands, Quiksilver announced to today that it will be cutting riders, staff and brands from its lineup. COO and Global Brand President, Craig Stevenson, will leave later this year. Top athletes like Kelly Slater, Dayne Reynolds, and Tony Hawk will be safe. Rumors are all over the internet, but Transworld broke the story before all people were notified, so a full update may come tomorrow. As of now, Womens brands at DC and Quiksilver were cut (not Roxy), along with Quiksilver Girls. There is talk of the Quiksilver snowboard team being let go, except Travis Rice. Also talk of deep cuts in the DC family like the BMX team.

All of this seems to be an attempt to streamline the company, cut costs, and boost the stock price under new CEO Andy Mooney who joined last month. Quiksilver's stock price (ZQK) has rallied from $2.33 last summer to closing at $6.21 today.

The 2nd episode of 21 Days is up on Red Bull's website. Although it should be called 5 days, b/c that's when the ASP Tour begins. If you want to see how hard these guys train in the pool and on dry land in order to get ready for the tour, this is the episode to watch.

While Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide race at Daytona was marred by the final lap crash that sent debris into the stands and injured 33 spectators, it was also the first race of the season for Travis Pastrana. He finished in 10th place earning him 34 points. Pastrana will drive the full Nationwide series this year with Roush Fenway Racings #60 Ford. No word if he is planning a jump from the 'minor league' Nationwide series to the big time Sprint Cup series anytime soon.

Just like HBO's sports documentary series 24/7, Red Bull has put out a great film which can only be viewed on their website. '21 Days' documents the two Australian rivals' preparations for the 2013 season. Joel Parkinson will defend his 1st title, while Mick Fanning his chasing his third. The season starts on March 2nd with the Quiksilver Pro in Gold Coast, Australia, so they will both have the home field advantage. The biggest question remains, will Kelly Slater compete and spoil the Aussie party?

DC Shoes has done it again. Instead of making commercials, they make awesome mini films with lots DC stickers, and then show their new goods at the end. It's official, the ASP Tour is becoming a dream tour of only the best and most exotic locations. The ASP announced today that the fifth stop on the ASP WCT Tour will be the Oakley Pro Bali starting on June 18th. There will also be a backup location at the nearby beach breaks of Canggu. The tour starts in less than a month when the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast waiting period starts on March 2nd.
