Quiksilver began in Australia in 1970 and has become one of the most prolific brands in the industry. They were the first to put loud patterns on shorts in 1980 and have continued use bold designs that range from super bright colors to NFL and NBA team logo boardshorts. Their Diamond Dobby fabric dries extremely fast and cuts down on chaffing by keeping more material away from your skin once you're out of the water. In addition to their technical boardshorts, Quiksilver also has more traditional and classic colors shorts in their Waterman collection.
Cypher Kamikaze, Julian Wilson model

Real men wear pink. These shorts are no exception, in addition to being super stretchy with an amazing bright pink color scheme, they were a limited edition color created for Julian Wilson who is an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Julian's mother is a breast cancer survivor, and he always incorporates pink into his shorts and/or surfboard. Even though Julian is now riding for Nike, I have been searching for these shorts for a year. I found a pair hiding at Unsound Surf Shop last weekend. The Diamond Dobby fabric is more comfortable than I thought with a near cotton-like feel when they are dry. Even though there are inseams, the flat stitching and Diamond Dobby 4-Way Stretch fabric made me forget about the those seams.
Pros: Sick graphics, comfortable stretch fabric, great price $29-$59 depending on sales
